I recently attended an exclusive Fashion Show at Harrods which was organised to feature a number of unique Middle Eastern designers and to celebrate the end of Eid – the event was sponsored by the founder of F Fashion Show Lady Fatima A. Aziz Al-Ishaq from Qatar and was presented by Arabian TV personality Mayssa Maghrebi.
Several of my friends were also involved in the event Susu Laboudi founder of Fusion Management supplied the models, one of which was Zeena Zahawi.
It was an exciting experience to watch Abayas and Arabic Kaftans on the runway – I do not usually dress in traditional ‘national dress’ unless it is a specific event during Ramadan but I greatly enjoyed seeing the beautiful and exquisite details of the Abaya’s which displayed them as glamorous and exotic. There were also some fabulous sumptuous gowns by Jamil Khansa and Houida Baridi. The mother and daughter team behind the designer Dar Naseem Alandalous combined luxurious fabrics such as lace, silk satin with great attention to detail and used vibrant colours for a refreshing and contemporary Kaftans.
