I enjoyed an intimate brunch at the Moda Operandi luxury boutique in London which is beautifully designed and spread over two floors. The atmosphere is of an exotic jungle with leopard statues guarding you as you walk in.
The international boutique is known to offer Fashion’s latest wears fresh off the runway and I caught up with Antonio Berardi
to see his latest AW15
collection post London Fashion Week.
With Antonio Berardi
His designs are very elaborate and the dramatic collection is hugely admired in the Middle East. When asked what was the inspiration behind all the floral gowns and cocktail dresses – he said:
‘I don’t normally go for florals, I like to design masculine structured silhouettes with a feminine twist this is new for me. I wanted to add an edge of softness but keep the masculinity within the piece. I designed the long dress based on an actual flower and cut it from different edges as if petals have fallen and that adds sexiness and movement to the dress.’
He has also collaborated with renowned British shoe designer Rupert Sanderson
designing floral fabricated boots – saying:
‘Girls are always saying how comfortable his shoes are – models walked with great stability wearing his shoes at my show’. “We Giggle” I guess this is a risk most designers worry about if shoes are too high, uncomfortable or unstable can cause models to fall!
Guests at the brunch started asking when can we buy those shoes? What about the dresses? Ladies you will all be tempted to get your hands on Antonio Berardi’s collection so keep a look out online!
